Sworn In

This morning, Justice Neil Gorsuch was sworn into the United States Supreme Court as Antonin Scalia’s replacement, after the position was vacant for over a year. Senate Republicans refused to even book the hearings for President Obama’s SC pick, Merrick Garland.

Without a doubt, this is a stolen seat. The Republicans didn’t stop Obama’s pick because they believed that the US should have a voice in who runs the country, because that’s not how the nation is set up. They don’t believe that the people should have a voice in who runs the country, or 45 wouldn’t be the one sitting in the Oval. They don’t believe that the people should have a voice in the ruling of our country, or the insane gerrymandering that occurred in 2010 would not have happened. They did it because they had absolutely no respect for President Obama. They did it because wanted to show President Obama that his power was diminished when compared to theirs. Mitch McConnell did it because stalling the nominee would have been better for the conservatives. I firmly believe that had Clinton won the election, McConnell would come up with yet another excuse to keep her nominees from being confirmed. This isn’t the way that we should be run our country. McConnell is not the President. Trump should not be the President. Gorsuch should not be sitting on the Supreme Court, and Garland should be. The Republicans stole this seat, not out of protecting the country, but out of selfish stupidity and disrespect.
